Sustainability-focused Business Education
BGI offers unique MBA and Certificate programs focused on sustainability. Our innovative programs prepare you to create and manage successful, dynamic enterprises that build a better world.
The BGI education combines traditional instruction and course work with team-based applied projects, research, and ﬁeld experience to solve real-world business challenges. BGI faculty design instructional activities to encourage students’ active engagement with the learning content, creating interactive dialogue. This approach stimulates critical thinking, analysis and application of theory to complex business situations.
Curriculum design and delivery methods are selected based on content, topic, learner needs, learning objectives, optimal pedagogy and computer technology capabilities. We believe leadership, teamwork, and ﬂuency with software programs and online collaboration tools are essential competencies for tomorrow’s business leaders and managers.
Students are expected to build and demonstrate a mastery of skills and knowledge, deﬁned by learning objectives. This requires active participation in learning activities. Given the importance of high-performance teamwork to managerial and leadership roles, a large percentage of learning activities and assignments require collaboration. Students are evaluated based on both individual and team performance.

In an in-person, course-based format, our MBA in Sustainable Business is where you’ll learn business fundamentals and immerse yourself in the cutting-edge aspects of sustainability as they relate to each of the core business topics. From day-one you’ll analyze issues facing companies and communities and the pragmatic aspects of transforming capitalism.
Combining residential intensives with distance learning, our MBA in Sustainable Systems, offers an immersive learning community with the ﬂexibility of distance learning. The program features a fully integrated core curriculum in the first year, providing a systemic and historical context for the second year, which features options for customization and focus are available.
Our Certificates for graduate credit equip learners to catalyze successful start-ups, grow medium-sized businesses and help large firms adapt to the economic, environmental and social challenges of the future. Our certificates provide deep sustainability content focused on business management in specific industries such as energy, food and agriculture and the built environment.
